Home-mage to Homey

I lost my 12 year old kitty last week. I just wanted to share some of my favorite pics of Homeboy, aka Homeslice, Homeskillet, Handsome. The night I knew he was gone, I dreamed about him, he came to the back porch and he was in his prime. Except he was white. Love you Homey kitties!

slouchies

 Homey has a friend!

I made two more slouchies this weekend. I found some interior decorating fabric at Joann for 30% off. It's a bit sturdier than regular calico. The print selection is way better, too! The brown print is actually Dwell Studio. I was surprised to see that on the selvedge when I got home. I love slouchies. They are great for a main bag or a secondary tote like if you carry tons of crap around like i do. I used this pattern. Katy and I hope to have a booth at the upcoming Deep Ellum Outdoor Market on April 16th. We are still waiting to hear back. I'm doing extra sewing just in case.

Macy for a Week

I am doggy sitting this week! Macy is Hank's blond lab. She is super bouncy and sweet. It's fun to clean the porch and back yard when you have a happy doggy running around! Homey is skeptical. He has nestled himself in the tall grass like a miniature panther, watching her every move. To say thank you, Hank surprised me with this awesome prism ring (by VeridiAum)  from The Shining. He is sneaky.

Sewin'

I had an extra yard of the feed sack print so I made a top for Skye. The orange is up for grabs. I put some white lace along the bottom. I didn't think I could wear orange, but this color would look good on anyone. It's almost red. I might have to keep it for myself. Isn't Homey tiny?

Day off-Day 5

I took today off because I was supposed to go to a concert last night. That fell through, so I slept in until noon. Oops. I finished Tony's mix and dropped it in the mail along with my students' postcards. I went grocery shopping and made a yummy sandwich: french bread, mozzarella, tomato, avocado, salt, and pepper. I drank iced coffee and read my Lucky magazine on my porch before my soccer game. We lost our game, natch.

Spring

I had my first porch party this weekend. About 10 people came (if you include the bitsy girl and Emmy) and we grilled rando chicken and ate jalapeno cilantro hummus from the new Whole Foods. (hello, Austin!) The weather was perfect. Thanks to the screened in porch, the bugs were minimal.  There are only so many of these kinds of days in Texas. I am going to soak them up. Especially by, ahem, riding my new bike! Pics to come! #teambike

Light

I have been rearranging my artwork and furniture in my house. I want to find more thin tote bags like this Frieze Art Fair one. It's so easy to make them into pillows. Just buy a pillow form, put it inside the tote and tie the handles together.
