Happy Spring Break

Hank loves beer. Lucky for me, there's an awesome new brewery in town.
I baked Hank's parents a lemon cake for their birthdays. Those are blueberries, not olives. I highly recommend blueberries on a lemon cake.
Katy and TJ made us waffle madness. TJ oven baked the bacon on racks. Best bacon I've ever had. Look into it.
I finally got close enough to the gorgeous blooming trees. It's a shame they only look this way for a couple weeks. I snapped this on after a run on the Katy Trail.
Have I mentioned Sweet Potato Tots yet? You need to drive directly to Sonic to try them. I've been pretty obsessed with exercising and eating lately. Lucky for me they cancel each other out. I'm headed to Austin for part of spring break. I hope to test ride some new fitness bikes and eat some really good food. I hope you get a break and I hope you enjoy it! Here's my current bike in 1st place.

Oh Hey!

I haven't been crafty lately, but here's some other stuff I've been up to!  I made Hank a sampler valentine six pack. He made me French toast, took me on a hot date, and sent me flowers to school!

 I updated my clippie board.
I tried cycling for the first time. CJ loaned me her setup. It was raining and I fell down. So I'm undecided.
I made PW's amazing Spicy Stewed Beef with Cheddar Grits. Top notch.
I ate at a Dallas food truck (Easy Slider). I highly recommend the burger with goat cheese, bacon, and strawberry jam!
I cleaned out my garage. I'm pretty excited about this.

Saturday Night

On Saturday night, six of us drove to San Antonio for a beer/food pairing at Ranger Creek Brewery and Distillery. I am not much of a beer drinker, so I just took sips to match the food and then had Hank finish mine off. Every course was good. The final dessert was a chocolate cup cake with sea salt and bacon on top. They also gave us recipe cards for everything they made.

I knew it

I knew that if I had a day to myself I could sew like a mad woman. Five apron tops started and finished all before 2:30pm. I was so proud of myself I put this cute lace at the bottom of this one. Oh, and I mowed, edged, and trimmed the hedges.

Bike Ride

What a great weekend. I made a bunch of dresses, hung out with family, and rode Chisolm Trail in Plano for the first time in about 18 years. It's in great shape and follows a creek. We pulled over a couple times to take pictures. It's about 3 miles. Pretty easy compared to the White Rock ten miler. When I was in college my brother, David, forbid me from putting a basket on my bmx bike. He said that it was just wrong. Since my new bike is just a whatever bike from Wal-mart, he didn't object when I attached a vintage wire gym basket to the front with quick ties. I think it looks pretty boss.

I'm Tryna

I have been non-crafty for over a week. A Week in the Life was supposed to make me MORE crafty. Instead I just hopped around taking hipstas. Tonight this will change. As long as there's not a new Grey's Anatomy on, I am making a dress! And muffins.

Day 7-Red

Everything was red on Sunday. I played soccer then went to Sunday dinner at my moma's house. She had beautiful red roses from her garden on the dining table. She made raspberry desserts in shot glasses. After dinner, Rachel and I put on our heels and went to Dan's Silverleaf in Denton to see Spindrift. It was a good day.

Day 6

Saturday: I went on a hunt for these Cynthia Vincent for Target sandals. The Target in Wylie only had three pair and one was my size. Score. I went to Courtney's for some girl talk, a baby shower, and to my Moma's to catch up. La Femme Nikita and bed.

Day off-Day 5

I took today off because I was supposed to go to a concert last night. That fell through, so I slept in until noon. Oops. I finished Tony's mix and dropped it in the mail along with my students' postcards. I went grocery shopping and made a yummy sandwich: french bread, mozzarella, tomato, avocado, salt, and pepper. I drank iced coffee and read my Lucky magazine on my porch before my soccer game. We lost our game, natch.

#teambike

#teambike had it's inaugural ride yesterday at White Rock Lake. It was intense. The weather was gorgeous. It was super windy the second half which made it really difficult to finish. But we did. All 9.33 miles. Not bad for a bunch of artsy gals. We are all a bit saddle sore, but a few days rest and some cushy seats, we will be back in business on Sunday! Wanna come?
