San Diego

 (fake pie)

I went to San Diego with Hank's family last week. We had a blast. We stayed in a super nice hotel with so many awesome native plants. Here in Texas they would be in a tiny pot. I really enjoyed the USS Midway and making photo collages with my pictures. Hank has an awesome family and I was honored to spend my favorite holiday with them. My Moma fed me leftovers last night!

model session

Look at my cute model. I needed to list some items on etsy and I wanted to have a little fun.

Farmers Market

I went to the Farmers Market for the 8th year in a row with the freshman drawing class. It was fun as always. I left with some roasted peanuts (that my senior show group devoured in minutes), apple/plum hybrid thingys (not as good as a pluot, but still good), and some purple hull peas for Bobby Heath (yuck).

Havin' some fun.

I always send my kids out to take pinhole photos and I never get to. Well, today that stopped. I took two class portraits. The top one is my all girl photo class. They held still for 35 seconds to get this shot. There are a couple blurries, but that adds to the coolness. The bottom one is a 30 second exposure of my Elements of Media class. Half of them stood still for the entire exposure, and the other half walked in at about 15 seconds in. Pretty cool for an old quaker oatmeal box.

Yes

Week 1 is almost over and I am already worn out. Iced tea in a jar to the rescue (courtesy of my Moma's house). In one day I will be in Austin with the boy, and I'll listen to the new Randy Rogers Band album the whole way down. Well, maybe just the first two songs on repeat.

Shoot for The Shining

Here are a few outtakes from our photo shoot today. My gorgeous doll, Amy, posed in some of Vicki's inventory for her website. We had fun! The Shining opens next week!

Oh Yeah

Kelsey brought me a Cupa-Pie. It's a teeny pie in a cupcake liner.
Emily came to visit me before she leaves for Italy.
Joel is mailing me some new music!
I jammed to this song all day.

Day 7-Red

Everything was red on Sunday. I played soccer then went to Sunday dinner at my moma's house. She had beautiful red roses from her garden on the dining table. She made raspberry desserts in shot glasses. After dinner, Rachel and I put on our heels and went to Dan's Silverleaf in Denton to see Spindrift. It was a good day.

Day 6

Saturday: I went on a hunt for these Cynthia Vincent for Target sandals. The Target in Wylie only had three pair and one was my size. Score. I went to Courtney's for some girl talk, a baby shower, and to my Moma's to catch up. La Femme Nikita and bed.

Holga Film-Day 4

Day four had it's moments. Two of my friends' mothers passed away last night. I found out this morning. It's a hard thing to hear. Having lost a parent at 23, this hits home. So tell your parents you love them.

I picked up my year old Holga film from Expert Imaging. I was surprised that so many "came out." These are my two favorites. So the windmill is for Bethanne, and the sunset for Ty. I love you guys.

Here's the song that makes me think of my Moma: I'll Always Come Back- K.T. Oslin

Hipstamatic!

I joined the Hipstamatic club yesterday. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the lens/film/flash options, but so far I'm in love. I'll probably use my Hipsta app for a lot of my Week in the Life documentation. I rescued these orange flowers at Walmart last night. They were "reduced" cause they were looking way sad. Now they look less sad in my coke bottle.

Texas Bluebonnets

I found this field of bluebonnets on my way out of the soccer complex. It made up for losing our game. I heart Texas.

Writing with Light

We played with exposure and writing with light today in class. One of the many fun moments of my day. Happy Weekend!

My Book!

My book came in the mail! These last two spreads weren't on the preview option, so it was a total surprise to see them at the end of the book. That sign is my favorite in Amarillo. There's a gang of Korgis that bark at me every time I visit it. They are so cute.

I Heart Holga

My friend Joel has been blessed by the Holga gods. He never gets a bum roll of film. He took these awesome photos in New York last week. He plays along with some of the photo assignments I give my students. These are his doors from the last assignment. A+ Joel! Look at the rest on his flickr. Check out his super hip blog about music and all things cool.
