Making Room

I'm making room for Hank! My goal is to make him a shelf or drawer in every room! Generous of me, right? First I had to clippie rage to replenish my clippie board. Then I started a garage sale pile. I keep sweeping through my house and adding to the pile. I think of myself as someone who is clutter free but I have SO MUCH STUFF! I guess I am really good and hiding it. I went through my craft shelves and thinned some stuff out. I moved my table so Hank can have a desk and a few shelves. I even cleaned out the closet! The guest room is about half full with stuff for the sale. I'll probably have to relocate it to the garage because I can't stand the mess in there, and I don't even really use that room. How often do you purge? It's amazing the difference a couple years makes. Stuff you swore you'd use just gathers dust.

Sunday

 Finished top!
 Basting.
Sitting at Katy's starting to quilt.
I made a pillow with the extra square. I plan to give it to her at the shower just in case the quilt isn't finished.

I finished up a second wash cloth to use as a shower gift.

We play musical furniture in my family. A year and a half ago, my sofa moved out. My buddy loaned me his for about a year. I had to return it earlier this month so they could have it for their baby's room. I went about a week without one until my brother and his wife said I could use theirs! It is an 80s floral sofa that is awesome, but too faded to show. So it's all covered up. I am happy to be able to get horizontal again while I watch movies.

Scrappin'

I made five tops since yesterday, all with fabric I already have. I have about two more shirts left in me, but they need denim. I am tempted to cut up some old jeans. I'll be patient. Orange top is gone, by the way. Kinda sad about that.

Back Porch

I have been working on my back porch. For almost three years, it has been a spider webbed, dust bunnied, kitty hangout. I finally reclaimed it this weekend. I took down a low hanging droopy ceiling fan and replaced it with an outlet. I swept and took down some warped/rotted shelves. I strung up some cafe lights and moved some plants. I got the idea of using baby's breath instead of flowers from Katy. She always has some in her house. Now I have a bottle with some in every room. The porch has a ways to go, but it's almost ready for a party.

Back to Normal

I finally feel normal again. Spring break wore me out and made me homesick. Last night I roasted veggies with fresh rosemary from my front yard and took pics around the house. The orange slices were an impulse purchase. I'm not sure why, but they remind me of my granddaddy.

Guest Room

I have been coveting my mother's antique quilt and I finally confessed on Sunday. Being the amazing Moma that she is, she gave it to me. It now rests on my guest bed. Who wants to come sleep over?

Here's the story, told by Patti Lou:

I bought it because old autograph quilts speak to me from dusty shelves
and junk shops...I think this is the one that has Uncle Perk and Aunt
Jim on it...most of them are group efforts... you know, "Miss Selby is
retiring as the second grade Sunday school teacher. Let's make her a
quilt. Everybody sign and embroider this piece of muslin and I'll quilt
it..." You know it meant the world to the recipient but apparently, not
her heirs...I bought this one at the Plano Balloon Festival Arts and
Crafts show around about 1985.

All You Need Is Love

Over the summer, I saw a photo from a friend's wedding with this banner. I have had it on my to do list ever since. February is the perfect month to have it on display. It's also a good place holder for that I-don't-know-what that I want to put next to the photo. I used pink scrapbook paper and small brads.

Studio/Craft Room!

After two and a half years in my house, this room is finally getting some love. For me, art supplies are out of sight, out of mind. I am so happy to have all of it right in front of me making me productive. I am officially in the valentine making zone. This is probably my favorite craft holiday. Not so much for romantic reasons, but inspiration comes so easily. I might tap into some Texas country music lyrics for some text on my cards.

Light

I have been rearranging my artwork and furniture in my house. I want to find more thin tote bags like this Frieze Art Fair one. It's so easy to make them into pillows. Just buy a pillow form, put it inside the tote and tie the handles together.

Almost There

Our living room is almost complete. We are still missing that perfect piece of art to go above the sofa. I took this picture before I repaired the button on the orange pillow.
